Police investigating after tow trucks shot at in Scarborough two hours apart

Police are currently investigating two separate incidents where tow trucks were shot at in Scarborough, just two hours apart.

The first incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, when a tow truck driver reported being shot at while driving on Lawrence Avenue East near Scarborough Golf Club Road. The driver was not injured, but the truck sustained damage from the gunfire.

The second incident took place around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, when another tow truck driver reported being shot at while driving on Markham Road near Eglinton Avenue East. Again, the driver was not injured, but the truck was damaged.

According to police, both incidents appear to be targeted attacks on tow trucks. They are currently investigating any possible connections between the two incidents.

In response to these incidents, the Toronto Police Service has increased patrols in the area and is urging anyone with information to come forward. They are also reminding tow truck drivers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

This is not the first time tow trucks have been targeted in the Greater Toronto Area. In January, a tow truck driver was shot and killed in North York, and in February, another tow truck driver was shot and injured in Mississauga.

The Ontario Provincial Police have also been investigating a string of arsons targeting tow trucks in the GTA since last year.

The incidents have raised concerns about the safety of tow truck drivers and the potential for violence within the industry. The Ontario Provincial Police have even launched a task force to address the issue.

Anyone with information about the recent shootings is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
