Vancouver Police have reported that a suspect threw feces at officers before being taken down on Hastings Street.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening when officers responded to a call about a man causing a disturbance at a business on East Hastings Street. The suspect, who has not been identified, allegedly threw feces at the officers before fleeing the scene.
Police were able to locate the suspect a short distance away and attempted to arrest him. However, the suspect resisted and a physical altercation ensued. During the struggle, the suspect allegedly threw more feces at the officers.
Eventually, the suspect was taken into custody and is now facing charges of assaulting a police officer and mischief. The officers involved in the incident were not injured.
This is not the first time that Vancouver Police have encountered such a situation. In 2019, a man was arrested for throwing feces at a woman in the Downtown Eastside. And just last month, a man was arrested for throwing feces at a woman in a wheelchair.
The Vancouver Police Department has condemned these types of incidents, stating that they are not only disgusting and dangerous, but also a waste of valuable police resources.
The suspect in this latest incident remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on a later date. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Vancouver Police Department.
