Toronto man recounts coyote attack on his dog, expresses frustrations

A Toronto man is speaking out after his dog was attacked by a coyote, expressing his frustrations with the situation.

According to the man, who wishes to remain anonymous, the incident occurred on Monday evening while he was walking his dog in a park near his home. He recalls seeing a coyote lurking in the distance, but didn’t think much of it at first.

However, as he and his dog continued on their walk, the coyote suddenly appeared and lunged at his dog. The man immediately tried to intervene, but the coyote was too quick and managed to grab onto his dog’s leg.

In a panic, the man yelled and waved his arms, causing the coyote to release its grip and run away. Thankfully, his dog was able to escape with only minor injuries.

The man expressed his frustration with the situation, stating that he has seen coyotes in the area before and has even reported them to the city, but nothing has been done to address the issue.

He also expressed concern for the safety of other pets and even children who frequent the park, as coyotes are known to be aggressive towards small animals.

In response to the incident, the city has issued a warning to residents to be cautious when walking their pets and to report any coyote sightings to animal services.

This is not the first time a coyote attack has been reported in Toronto. In 2019, a woman was bitten by a coyote while walking her dog in a different park.

Experts advise that if you encounter a coyote, you should make loud noises, wave your arms, and back away slowly. It is also important to keep your pets on a leash and avoid walking them in areas known to have coyote activity.

The man hopes that by sharing his story, it will raise awareness about the issue and prompt the city to take action to prevent future attacks.

In the meantime, he is grateful that his dog was not seriously injured and hopes that others will take precautions to keep their pets safe from coyotes.
