The B.C. Lions have put an end to the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ undefeated streak with a 35-20 victory on Friday night.
The Lions came out strong, scoring the first touchdown of the game just minutes into the first quarter. Quarterback Michael Reilly led the team with an impressive performance, throwing for 261 yards and two touchdowns.
The Roughriders, who had been undefeated in their first three games of the season, struggled to keep up with the Lions’ offense. Quarterback Cody Fajardo threw for 360 yards and one touchdown, but also had two interceptions.
The Lions’ defense also played a crucial role in their victory, with linebacker Jordan Williams leading the team with nine tackles and one interception.
Despite the loss, the Roughriders’ head coach Craig Dickenson remained positive, stating that it was a learning experience for the team and they will come back stronger in their next game.
The Lions, on the other hand, are celebrating their first win of the season and are looking to continue their momentum in their upcoming games.
This victory marks the first time the Lions have defeated the Roughriders since 2018, and it also puts them in a tie for second place in the West Division with a 1-2 record.
The Roughriders will have a chance to redeem themselves as they face off against the Lions once again next week in Vancouver.
For now, the B.C. Lions can bask in their well-deserved victory and look forward to the rest of the season with renewed confidence.
