Cyclist seriously injured after being struck by driver in southwest Scarborough

A cyclist has been left with serious injuries after being struck by a driver in southwest Scarborough.

According to police, the incident occurred on Monday evening at the intersection of Kingston Road and Markham Road. The cyclist was traveling eastbound on Kingston Road when they were hit by a vehicle turning left onto Markham Road.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the cyclist was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.

The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated the incident. It has since been reopened.

This is not the first time a cyclist has been injured in this area. In fact, just last month, a cyclist was killed in a hit-and-run at the same intersection.

Cycling safety has been a growing concern in the city, with calls for better infrastructure and stricter laws for drivers. This incident serves as a reminder for both cyclists and drivers to be cautious and follow traffic laws to prevent such accidents from happening.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact police.
