The Kelowna Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a candidates forum for the Kelowna Centre riding, providing an opportunity for the community to hear from those vying for the position.
The forum, held at the Kelowna Yacht Club, saw all four candidates in attendance – Conservative candidate Tracy Gray, Liberal candidate Stephen Fuhr, NDP candidate Justin Kulik, and Green Party candidate Travis Ashley.
Each candidate was given the chance to introduce themselves and their platform, followed by a question and answer period where they were asked about a variety of topics, including the economy, housing, and climate change.
Gray emphasized her experience as a business owner and her commitment to creating jobs and supporting small businesses. Fuhr highlighted his record as the incumbent MP and his focus on building a strong economy and investing in infrastructure. Kulik spoke about his background in community organizing and his plans to address issues such as affordable housing and healthcare. Ashley emphasized the importance of addressing climate change and his party’s commitment to a green economy.
The candidates also had the opportunity to ask each other questions, leading to lively discussions and debates on various issues.
The forum was well-attended by members of the community, including business owners, students, and concerned citizens. Many expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to hear directly from the candidates and to ask them questions.
The Kelowna Chamber of Commerce, as a non-partisan organization, provided a neutral platform for the candidates to share their views and engage with the community. This forum serves as an important step in the democratic process, allowing voters to make informed decisions on election day.
As the federal election approaches, it is crucial for citizens to stay informed and engaged in the political process. The Kelowna Chamber of Commerce’s candidates forum provided a valuable opportunity for the community to do just that.
