Two new members on slimmed down Accelerate Okanagan board of directors

Kelowna’s leading technology accelerator, Accelerate Okanagan, has announced the addition of two new members to its board of directors. The organization, which supports the growth and success of tech companies in the Okanagan region, has recently undergone a restructuring process to streamline its operations and focus on its core mission.

The two new board members, Dr. Maryam Sadeghi and Dr. Ray Hoemsen, bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the table. Dr. Sadeghi is the CEO and co-founder of MetaOptima Technology Inc., a digital health company that specializes in skin cancer detection. She is also a clinical assistant professor at the University of British Columbia and has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women.

Dr. Hoemsen, on the other hand, has over 30 years of experience in the technology and innovation sector. He has held various leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, including serving as the CEO of North Forge Technology Exchange and the Director of Applied Research and Commercialization at Red River College.

The addition of these two accomplished individuals to the board of directors is expected to bring fresh perspectives and valuable insights to Accelerate Okanagan. Their diverse backgrounds and extensive knowledge of the tech industry will be instrumental in guiding the organization towards achieving its goals.

The restructuring of the board of directors is part of Accelerate Okanagan’s efforts to become more efficient and effective in supporting the growth of the tech sector in the Okanagan region. The organization has also recently launched a new strategic plan, which focuses on four key areas: talent development, company growth, community engagement, and ecosystem development.

According to Brea Lake, CEO of Accelerate Okanagan, the new board members will play a crucial role in implementing the organization’s strategic plan and driving its mission forward. She also expressed her excitement about working with Dr. Sadeghi and Dr. Hoemsen, stating that their expertise and passion for the tech industry will be invaluable to the organization.

With the addition of these two new members, the board of directors of Accelerate Okanagan now consists of nine members, including representatives from the tech community, academia, and the public sector. The organization is confident that this diverse and experienced team will lead them towards a brighter future for the tech industry in the Okanagan region.
