“The fans were always great to me. They embraced me from day one and I embraced them back,” he said. “I think that’s why we have such a great relationship.”
Carter’s impact on the Raptors and the city of Toronto extends beyond his playing days. He continues to be involved with the team and the community, even after being traded to the New Jersey Nets in 2004.
“I’ve always been a part of the Raptors family. I’ve always been a part of the city of Toronto,” he said. “I’ve always been a part of the community, and I always will be.”
As he prepares for his jersey retirement, Carter hopes to inspire the next generation of players and fans.
“I hope that I’ve left a positive impact on the city, the organization, and the fans,” he said. “I hope that I’ve inspired someone to be better, to do better, and to continue to grow the game of basketball in Canada.”
