The Brantford Bulldogs’ power play has become a major concern for the team as they continue their season in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.
Despite their strong start to the season, the Bulldogs have struggled to convert on their power play opportunities, which has resulted in several losses and a drop in the standings.
Head coach, Mike Burgoyne, acknowledges the issue and has been working with the team to improve their power play strategy.
“We know that our power play needs to be better,” Burgoyne stated in a recent interview. “We have been focusing on our execution and making sure we are taking advantage of our opportunities.”
The Bulldogs’ power play currently ranks 14th in the league, with a success rate of only 14.3%. This is a significant drop from last season, where they ranked 6th in the league with a success rate of 20.5%.
One of the main factors contributing to the Bulldogs’ struggles on the power play is their lack of consistency. They have been unable to maintain possession of the puck and create scoring chances, resulting in missed opportunities.
In addition, the team has also been struggling with their special teams play, as they have allowed several shorthanded goals against.
Despite these challenges, the Bulldogs remain determined to improve their power play and get back on track. Captain, Jack Hughes, believes that the team has the talent and skill to turn things around.
“We have a lot of skilled players on our team and we know we can be successful on the power play,” Hughes stated. “We just need to focus on our execution and work together as a unit.”
The Bulldogs will have a chance to showcase their improved power play as they face off against the St. Catharines Falcons this weekend. Fans are hopeful that the team will be able to turn things around and regain their position as a top contender in the league.
In the meantime, the Bulldogs will continue to work hard in practice and make the necessary adjustments to improve their power play. As the season progresses, it will be crucial for the team to capitalize on their power play opportunities in order to secure wins and climb back up the standings.
