Injured McDavid skates but 'not quite ready' for Oilers action

Edmonton Oilers fans were given a glimmer of hope as star player Connor McDavid took to the ice for a skate on Monday. However, it seems that the team’s captain is not quite ready to return to action just yet.

McDavid, who has been sidelined with a quad injury since February, was seen skating with his teammates during practice at Rogers Place. This was the first time he has been on the ice with the team since his injury.

Despite the excitement surrounding his return, McDavid made it clear that he is not yet ready to play in a game. “It’s just a small step in the right direction,” he said. “I’m not ready to play yet, but it’s nice to be out there with the guys.”

The 23-year-old center has been making progress in his recovery, but the team is taking a cautious approach to ensure he is fully healed before returning to the lineup. “We’re not going to rush him back,” said Oilers head coach Dave Tippett. “We want to make sure he’s 100% healthy before he plays.”

McDavid’s absence has been felt by the team, as they have struggled to maintain their position in the playoff race without their top scorer. However, his return to the ice is a positive sign for the Oilers and their fans.

In the meantime, McDavid will continue to work on his recovery and rehabilitation, with the hope of returning to the lineup in the near future. “I’m just trying to get back as soon as I can,” he said. “But I have to make sure I’m ready to go when I do come back.”

The Oilers are set to face off against the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday, and while McDavid will not be in the lineup, his presence on the ice during practice is a promising sign for the team’s future.
