Calgary police are on the hunt for a suspect who stole purses from the Peter Lougheed Centre on Monday afternoon.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. when a man entered the hospital and proceeded to steal multiple purses from the waiting room area. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
The Calgary Police Service has released a description of the suspect in hopes of identifying and locating him. He is described as a Caucasian male in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 5’10” tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, dark pants, and a black baseball cap.
Police are also asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect by releasing surveillance footage from the hospital. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Calgary Police Service non-emergency line at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
In the meantime, authorities are reminding the public to be vigilant and to keep their personal belongings close while in public places. They also advise individuals to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
