Police respond after body found near Rutland Money Mart

Kelowna, BC – The Kelowna Police Department responded to a call on Monday afternoon after a body was discovered near the Money Mart in Rutland.

According to the police, they received a report at around 2:30 pm about a body found in the area of Highway 33 and Hollywood Road North. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the presence of a deceased individual.

The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. The cause of death is also currently unknown and is being investigated by the Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit.

The area was cordoned off for several hours as police conducted their investigation. The BC Coroners Service was also called to the scene to assist with the investigation.

At this time, there is no indication of any public safety concerns related to this incident. The police are asking anyone with information to come forward and contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.

The Money Mart location was temporarily closed during the investigation but has since reopened. The company has released a statement expressing their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
