Real True News

The North Bay Battalion faced a tough defeat in their preseason game against the Ottawa 67’s, losing 6-1 on Friday night.

Despite a strong start from the Battalion, with forward Brandon Coe scoring the first goal of the game, the 67’s quickly took control and dominated the rest of the match.

Ottawa’s Marco Rossi led the charge with a hat trick, while teammate Austen Keating contributed two goals and an assist. The 67’s also outshot the Battalion 41-25, making it difficult for North Bay to catch up.

Battalion head coach Stan Butler acknowledged the team’s struggles, stating, “We didn’t play well enough to win. We didn’t compete hard enough.”

This loss marks the end of the Battalion’s preseason, with a record of 2-3-0. However, Butler remains optimistic for the upcoming regular season, saying, “We’ve got a lot of work to do, but we’ll get there.”

The Battalion will now focus on preparing for their season opener against the Niagara IceDogs on September 20th.
