Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers hosted a successful Children’s Safety Expo, educating and empowering young minds to stay safe in their community.
The event, held at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre, saw a large turnout of families and children eager to learn about safety measures and precautions.
Various organizations and agencies, including the Chatham-Kent Police Service, Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services, and the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit, set up interactive booths and displays to engage with the attendees.
Children were able to participate in hands-on activities, such as trying on firefighter gear and learning about fire safety, as well as learning about the importance of wearing a helmet while riding a bike.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service also provided a K-9 demonstration, showcasing the skills of their canine unit and highlighting the role of police dogs in keeping the community safe.
In addition to the fun and interactive activities, the expo also featured informative presentations on topics such as internet safety, bullying prevention, and stranger danger.
The goal of the expo was to educate children on how to stay safe in various situations and to provide them with the knowledge and tools to protect themselves.
Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers President, Tim Haskell, expressed his gratitude to all the organizations and volunteers who made the event possible. He also emphasized the importance of teaching children about safety at a young age.
“By educating our children on safety measures and precautions, we are empowering them to make smart and safe decisions in their daily lives,” said Haskell.
The Children’s Safety Expo was a great success, with many families leaving with valuable information and resources to keep their children safe. Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers hopes to continue hosting this event in the future, promoting a safer and more informed community.
