The Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) is gearing up for their annual summit, set to take place in Kelowna this year. The event, which brings together industry professionals and stakeholders, will be held on October 13 and 14 at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Grand Okanagan Resort.
TOTA is a non-profit organization that represents and supports the tourism industry in the Thompson Okanagan region of British Columbia. Their annual summit serves as a platform for networking, learning, and collaboration among industry leaders.
This year’s summit will focus on the theme of “Resilience and Recovery,” highlighting the challenges and opportunities faced by the tourism industry in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Attendees can expect to hear from a variety of speakers, including keynote speaker Dr. Mark Colgate, a professor of service excellence at the University of Victoria.
In addition to keynote speeches, the summit will feature panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities. Topics to be covered include sustainable tourism, Indigenous tourism, and the use of technology in the industry.
TOTA CEO Glenn Mandziuk expressed his excitement for the upcoming summit, stating, “We are thrilled to be able to bring together industry professionals and stakeholders to discuss the current state and future of tourism in our region. This summit is an important opportunity for us to come together, share knowledge and ideas, and work towards a stronger and more resilient tourism industry.”
The summit will also include the presentation of the TOTA Awards, which recognize individuals and organizations for their contributions to the tourism industry in the Thompson Okanagan region.
Registration for the summit is now open, with early bird pricing available until September 15. Attendees can choose to attend in person or virtually, with strict COVID-19 safety protocols in place for in-person attendees.
