Real True News

The CP Holiday Train made its annual stop in Chatham on Friday, bringing festive cheer and support for local food banks.

The brightly lit train, adorned with holiday decorations, rolled into the Chatham VIA Rail station to the delight of the gathered crowd. The event, organized by Canadian Pacific Railway, has been a holiday tradition for over 20 years, traveling across Canada and the United States to raise awareness and donations for local food banks.

The event kicked off with a performance by country music artist Terri Clark, who has been a part of the Holiday Train tour for 12 years. She was joined by fellow musicians Sierra Noble and Kelly Prescott, who entertained the crowd with their lively music and holiday spirit.

In addition to the musical performances, attendees were treated to hot chocolate and snacks, as well as the opportunity to take photos with the train and meet the performers.

But the true purpose of the Holiday Train is to raise awareness and donations for local food banks. Canadian Pacific has a long-standing partnership with Food Banks Canada, and all donations collected at the event will stay in the local community to support those in need.

According to Food Banks Canada, one in eight Canadian households struggle to put food on the table, and the holiday season can be an especially difficult time for those facing food insecurity. The Holiday Train aims to bring attention to this issue and encourage people to give back to their communities.

In Chatham, the Holiday Train has become a beloved tradition, with many families making it a part of their holiday celebrations. The event also serves as a reminder of the generosity and kindness of the community, as people come together to support a worthy cause.

As the Holiday Train continues its journey across North America, it leaves behind a trail of holiday spirit and goodwill. And in Chatham, it has once again brought the community together for a festive and meaningful event.
