Two Metro Vancouver men are facing charges after police seized several kilograms of drugs in a recent bust.
According to the RCMP, the investigation began in October 2020 when officers received information about a suspected drug trafficking operation in the Lower Mainland. After months of surveillance and gathering evidence, police executed search warrants at two residences in Surrey and Burnaby on January 7, 2021.
During the searches, police found and seized over five kilograms of suspected cocaine, two kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, and a large quantity of cash. The estimated street value of the drugs is over $1 million.
Two men, aged 27 and 28, were arrested at the scene and are now facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking. They have been released on bail and are scheduled to appear in court on March 10, 2021.
The RCMP is reminding the public that drug trafficking is a serious offence and can have devastating effects on individuals and communities. They are also urging anyone with information about illegal drug activity to come forward and report it to their local police.
This bust is just one example of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat the illegal drug trade in Metro Vancouver. The RCMP and other agencies will continue to work tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle these criminal operations.
The investigation is ongoing and police are not ruling out the possibility of further arrests or charges. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
