Saskatoon Police Respond to Five Bear Spray Incidents in Nine Hours
Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) has been kept busy with a string of bear spray incidents that occurred within a span of nine hours on Tuesday.
According to SPS, the first incident was reported at approximately 3:30 pm in the 100 block of Avenue O South. A 25-year-old man was sprayed with bear spray by an unknown suspect, causing him to experience difficulty breathing and burning sensations on his skin. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and did not require further medical attention.
The second incident took place at around 5:00 pm in the 200 block of Avenue V South. A 32-year-old man was sprayed with bear spray by a group of individuals, resulting in similar symptoms as the first victim. He was also treated at the scene and did not need to be taken to the hospital.
The third incident occurred at approximately 6:00 pm in the 100 block of Avenue P South. A 27-year-old man was sprayed with bear spray by an unknown suspect, causing him to experience difficulty breathing and burning sensations on his skin. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and did not require further medical attention.
The fourth incident took place at around 7:00 pm in the 100 block of Avenue R South. A 29-year-old man was sprayed with bear spray by a group of individuals, resulting in similar symptoms as the previous victims. He was also treated at the scene and did not need to be taken to the hospital.
The fifth and final incident was reported at approximately 12:30 am in the 100 block of Avenue P South. A 26-year-old man was sprayed with bear spray by an unknown suspect, causing him to experience difficulty breathing and burning sensations on his skin. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and did not require further medical attention.
SPS is currently investigating these incidents and is asking anyone with information to come forward. They are also reminding the public that bear spray is a prohibited weapon and its use can result in criminal charges.
In light of these incidents, SPS is urging the public to be cautious and aware of their surroundings, especially when walking alone at night. They are also advising individuals to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
