Two young individuals from Lethbridge have been taken into custody after a fire broke out at a business in the southeast area of the city.
According to the Calgary Police Service, the incident occurred on Sunday evening at a business located on 17 Avenue and 36 Street SE. The fire was reported at around 7:30 p.m. and emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring businesses. No injuries were reported.
After further investigation, it was determined that the fire was intentionally set and two youths, aged 14 and 16, were arrested in connection with the incident. They have been charged with arson and are currently in custody.
The Calgary Police Service has not released any further information about the suspects or their motives at this time.
The business sustained significant damage as a result of the fire and is currently closed for repairs. The estimated cost of the damages has not been disclosed.
