Suspect arrested after 'terrifying' attack on woman in mobility scooter, B.C. RCMP say

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a terrifying attack on a woman in a mobility scooter, according to the British Columbia RCMP.

The incident occurred on Monday evening in the city of Surrey, when the victim, who has not been identified, was riding her scooter on a sidewalk. The suspect, who was also on a scooter, allegedly approached her and began yelling and making threats.

The victim attempted to flee, but the suspect followed her and allegedly struck her with his scooter, causing her to fall to the ground. He then proceeded to physically assault her before fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, including cuts and bruises. She has since been released and is recovering at home.

The RCMP launched an investigation and were able to identify and locate the suspect, who has been identified as 33-year-old John Doe. He was arrested on Wednesday and is facing charges of assault and uttering threats.

The motive for the attack is still under investigation, but the RCMP has stated that there is no evidence to suggest that the victim and suspect knew each other prior to the incident.
