The search for a missing 6-year-old boy in British Columbia has received support from various resources across the province, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
The young boy, who has been identified as Terrance Jones, was reported missing on Monday afternoon from his home in the small town of Hope, located about 150 kilometers east of Vancouver.
Since then, the RCMP has been leading a search effort with the help of local volunteers, search and rescue teams, and other agencies.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the RCMP expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community and beyond.
“We are incredibly thankful for the resources that have been offered to assist in the search for Terrance,” said Sgt. Frank Jang of the RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
“We have received assistance from various agencies and organizations, including the Canadian Armed Forces, the BC Search and Rescue Association, and the BC Conservation Officer Service.”
The RCMP also mentioned that they have been utilizing specialized equipment, such as drones and helicopters, to aid in the search efforts.
In addition to the physical search, the RCMP has also been working closely with the community to gather any information that may lead to Terrance’s whereabouts.
“We have been conducting door-to-door interviews and speaking with anyone who may have seen or heard anything that could help us locate Terrance,” said Sgt. Jang.
The RCMP has also set up a dedicated tip line for anyone with information to come forward.
“We are urging anyone who may have seen Terrance or has any information about his disappearance to contact us immediately,” said Sgt. Jang.
As the search continues, the RCMP is reminding the public to remain vigilant and to report any potential sightings of Terrance.
“We are doing everything in our power to find Terrance and bring him home safely,” said Sgt. Jang.
