A man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a killing on Vancouver Island, according to police.
The incident occurred on December 27, 2020, in the small community of Port Hardy, located on the northern tip of Vancouver Island. The victim, 35-year-old John Smith, was found deceased in his home by a family member.
After an extensive investigation, the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) arrested 42-year-old Mark Johnson on January 5, 2021. Johnson has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently in custody.
