Kelowna Gospel Mission Prepares for Thanksgiving
As the leaves begin to change and the air turns crisp, the Kelowna Gospel Mission is gearing up for their annual Thanksgiving celebrations. This year, the mission is expecting to serve over 1,000 meals to those in need in the community.
The Kelowna Gospel Mission has been providing meals and support to those experiencing homelessness and poverty for over 40 years. Their Thanksgiving dinner is a tradition that brings together volunteers, donors, and community members to share a warm meal and a sense of community.
According to Executive Director Randy Benson, the mission is expecting a larger turnout this year due to the ongoing effects of the pandemic. “We have seen an increase in the number of people seeking our services since the start of the pandemic,” Benson stated. “We are prepared to serve anyone who comes through our doors, and we are grateful for the support of our community in making this possible.”
The Thanksgiving dinner will be held on October 11th at the Kelowna Gospel Mission’s dining hall. The mission is currently accepting donations of food, clothing, and monetary contributions to help make the event a success. They are also in need of volunteers to help with meal preparation, serving, and clean-up.
In addition to the Thanksgiving dinner, the Kelowna Gospel Mission offers a variety of services to those in need, including shelter, addiction recovery programs, and job training. They rely heavily on the generosity of the community to continue their important work.
As we approach the holiday season, the Kelowna Gospel Mission reminds us of the importance of giving back and supporting those in need.
