North End fire being investigated as possible arson: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg Police are currently investigating a fire in the city’s North End as a possible case of arson.

The fire broke out on Sunday evening at a residence on Selkirk Avenue, near McKenzie Street. Firefighters were called to the scene around 7:30 p.m. and were able to quickly extinguish the flames.

According to police, there were no injuries reported in the incident. However, the residence sustained significant damage.

Authorities have not released any information on potential suspects or motives at this time. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Winnipeg Police Service.

Residents in the area were shocked and concerned by the incident. Many expressed their worries about the safety of their neighborhood and the potential for similar incidents in the future.

This is not the first time the North End has been the site of a possible arson. In October, a fire at a vacant home on Manitoba Avenue was also being investigated as a possible case of arson.

The Winnipeg Police Service is reminding the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. They also urge residents to take precautions to protect their homes and properties from potential fires.

As the investigation continues, authorities are asking for the community’s cooperation and assistance in bringing those responsible to justice.
