The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has launched an investigation into a series of suspicious deaths in the Gaspésie region after the discovery of three bodies.
According to SQ spokesperson Sgt. Claude Doiron, the bodies were found in separate locations in the Gaspésie region, but all within a short distance of each other. The first body was discovered on Monday afternoon in the municipality of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, while the other two were found on Tuesday morning in the nearby towns of Cap-Chat and Sainte-Madeleine-de-la-Rivière-Madeleine.
The identities of the victims have not been released, but Doiron confirmed that they were all adults. The cause of death has also not been determined at this time.
The SQ has set up a command post in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts and is working with the local police departments to gather evidence and interview witnesses. Doiron stated that the investigation is still in its early stages and it is too soon to speculate on any potential links between the three deaths.
The SQ is urging anyone with information about these incidents to come forward and contact their local police department or call the SQ’s confidential information line at 1-800-659-4264.
The Gaspésie region is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning landscapes and outdoor activities. The discovery of these three bodies has left the community in shock and mourning. The SQ is assuring the public that they are doing everything in their power to solve these cases and bring justice to the victims and their families.
As the investigation continues, the SQ is reminding the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. They are also asking for the community’s cooperation and patience as they work to uncover the truth behind these tragic deaths.
The SQ will provide updates on the investigation as more information becomes available. In the meantime, they are asking for privacy and respect for the families of the victims during this difficult time.
