A peace officer in Lethbridge, Alberta has been charged in connection to an incident that occurred over 10 years ago.
According to the Lethbridge Police Service, the incident took place in 2010 and involved the use of force by the peace officer. The victim, who has not been identified, sustained injuries as a result of the incident.
The officer, who has also not been named, has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm. They are scheduled to appear in court on March 9, 2021.
The Lethbridge Police Service has stated that the charges were laid after a thorough investigation by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT). ASIRT is an independent agency that investigates incidents involving police that result in serious injury or death.
