Residents of Longueuil are being advised to boil their water before consumption due to a recent water main break. The advisory was issued on Monday evening for certain areas of the city, including Saint-Hubert, Greenfield Park, and Vieux-Longueuil.
According to the city’s website, the advisory is in effect until further notice as a precautionary measure. The break in the water main occurred on Monday afternoon, causing a drop in water pressure in the affected areas.
The city’s public works department is currently working to repair the water main and restore water pressure. In the meantime, residents are advised to boil their water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth.
The advisory also applies to any water used for making ice, washing fruits and vegetables, or preparing baby formula. It is recommended to use bottled water as an alternative until the advisory is lifted.
The city has also set up water distribution points for residents who are unable to boil their water. These points are located at the following fire stations: 4255 Grande-Allée, 3500 Montarville, and 3000 de Lyon.
The city is urging residents to share this information with their neighbors, especially those who may not have access to the internet or social media. The advisory will remain in effect until the city confirms that the water is safe for consumption.
In the meantime, the city is reminding residents to continue following COVID-19 safety measures, such as washing hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
We will continue to provide updates on the situation as more information becomes available. Stay tuned to our website and social media channels for the latest developments.
