A community is mourning the loss of a young teenager who tragically drowned in Lake Ontario. The 17-year-old, who has been identified as Ahmed Mohamed, was a resident of Thorncliffe Park in Toronto.
According to authorities, Mohamed was swimming with friends at Woodbine Beach on Sunday afternoon when he went missing. Emergency services were called to the scene and a search and rescue operation was launched. Sadly, Mohamed’s body was found in the water on Monday morning.
Friends and family of Mohamed are devastated by the news of his passing. They describe him as a kind, caring, and ambitious young man who had a bright future ahead of him. Mohamed was a student at Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute and was known for his love of sports, particularly basketball.
“He left a mark in this world,” said Mohamed’s friend, Ahmed Ali. “He was always there for everyone, he was a great listener and always had a smile on his face.”
