Toronto Drivers to Face Road Closures This Weekend
Toronto drivers can expect to face a series of road closures this weekend, causing potential delays and detours for those traveling in and around the city.
The closures, which are set to take place from Friday, April 9 to Sunday, April 11, are due to various construction projects and events happening throughout the city.
One of the major closures will be on the Don Valley Parkway, where the southbound lanes will be closed from the Gardiner Expressway to the Bayview/Bloor ramp. This closure will begin at 11 p.m. on Friday and will last until 5 a.m. on Monday.
In addition, the eastbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway will be closed from the Humber River to Carlaw Avenue, starting at 11 p.m. on Friday and ending at 5 a.m. on Monday.
Other closures include the eastbound lanes of Lake Shore Boulevard West, from Windermere Avenue to Stadium Road, and the westbound lanes of Lake Shore Boulevard East, from Leslie Street to Carlaw Avenue. These closures will also begin at 11 p.m. on Friday and end at 5 a.m. on Monday.
Furthermore, the Yonge Street ramp to the westbound Gardiner Expressway will be closed from 11 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday.
These closures are necessary for ongoing construction projects, including the rehabilitation of the Gardiner Expressway and the construction of the Crosstown LRT.
In addition to these closures, there will also be several events taking place in the city that will impact traffic. These include the Toronto Blue Jays home opener at the Rogers Centre on Friday, a Toronto Raptors game at Scotiabank Arena on Saturday, and the Toronto Maple Leafs game at Scotiabank Arena on Sunday.
Drivers are advised to plan their routes accordingly and to expect delays. Public transportation is also a recommended alternative for those traveling in the city.
The City of Toronto has provided a detailed map of the closures and alternate routes on their website, and drivers are encouraged to check for updates before heading out.
With multiple closures and events happening this weekend, it is important for drivers to stay informed and plan ahead to avoid any potential traffic headaches.
