The second day of the LKSSAA Track and Field Championship saw impressive performances from local athletes, with several records being broken and new champions being crowned.

The event, held at the Chatham-Kent Community Athletic Complex, showcased the talent and determination of high school athletes from across the Lambton-Kent region.

In the senior girls’ division, St. Patrick’s High School’s Emma Pegg dominated the track, winning the 100m, 200m, and 400m races. She also set a new record in the 400m with a time of 57.12 seconds.

In the senior boys’ division, Ursuline College’s Ethan Jordan took home the gold in the 100m and 200m races, while also setting a new record in the 200m with a time of 22.47 seconds.

The junior girls’ division saw a close competition between St. Patrick’s High School’s Emma Pegg and Ursuline College’s Kaitlyn Handy. Pegg came out on top, winning the 100m and 200m races, while Handy took home the gold in the 400m.

In the junior boys’ division, Ursuline College’s Ethan Jordan continued his winning streak, taking home the gold in the 100m and 200m races. He also set a new record in the 100m with a time of 11.12 seconds.

The day also saw impressive performances in the field events, with Ursuline College’s Kaitlyn Handy setting a new record in the junior girls’ long jump with a distance of 5.08m.

In the senior boys’ high jump, Chatham-Kent Secondary School’s Ethan Boucher set a new record with a height of 1.95m.

Overall, the LKSSAA Track and Field Championship was a display of athleticism and determination, with many athletes pushing themselves to their limits and achieving new personal bests.
