The annual “Fill the Bus” campaign in Chatham-Kent has once again received overwhelming support from the community, with donations pouring in to help local families in need.
The campaign, organized by the Chatham-Kent Children’s Services Foundation, aims to collect school supplies and backpacks for children from low-income families. This year, the goal was to fill 1,000 backpacks, and thanks to the generosity of the community, that goal was exceeded.
According to foundation executive director, Mary Lou Crowley, the campaign has been a huge success, with donations coming in from individuals, businesses, and organizations. She expressed her gratitude to everyone who contributed, stating that their support will make a significant difference in the lives of children in the community.
The donated supplies will be distributed to children in need through various agencies, including the Chatham-Kent Children’s Services, the Salvation Army, and local schools. This ensures that the supplies reach those who need them the most.
The “Fill the Bus” campaign not only provides essential school supplies to children, but it also helps to alleviate the financial burden on families who may struggle to afford these items. It also promotes a sense of community and compassion, as people come together to support their neighbors in need.
The success of this year’s campaign is a testament to the generosity and kindness of the people of Chatham-Kent. It is heartwarming to see the community come together to support a worthy cause and make a positive impact on the lives of children.
The Chatham-Kent Children’s Services Foundation is grateful for the continued support of the community and looks forward to making a difference in the lives of even more children in the years to come.
