A man in the east end of Montreal has been fined $506 after hitting two people with his vehicle.
According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday evening at the intersection of Saint-Michel Boulevard and Jean-Talon Street. The man, whose identity has not been released, was driving his car when he struck two pedestrians who were crossing the street.
Both victims were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
After conducting an investigation, police determined that the driver was at fault for the collision and issued him a fine of $506 for careless driving.
This incident serves as a reminder for all drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic laws to ensure the safety of pedestrians and other motorists on the road.
Authorities also urge pedestrians to use designated crosswalks and to always be aware of their surroundings while crossing the street.
The fine issued to the driver may seem minimal, but it serves as a deterrent for reckless driving and sends a message that such behavior will not be tolerated.
