14-year-old boy charged in fatal North York shooting: police

A 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting in North York, according to police.

The incident occurred on Monday evening at around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Jane Street and Falstaff Avenue. Police were called to the scene after reports of gunshots being fired.

Upon arrival, officers found a man in his 20s suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

After an investigation, police identified and arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection with the shooting. He has been charged with second-degree murder and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Jaiden Jackson of Toronto. His family has been notified of his death.

Police have not released any information about a possible motive for the shooting or the relationship between the victim and the accused.

This incident has raised concerns about the involvement of young people in violent crimes. Toronto Police Chief James Ramer addressed these concerns in a statement, saying, “It is extremely concerning when we see young people involved in such serious and violent incidents.”
