North Shore Rescue had a busy Saturday night as they responded to four separate calls for assistance.
The first call came in at around 6:30 p.m. for a hiker who had become lost on the Howe Sound Crest Trail. The team quickly located the hiker and safely escorted them back to the trailhead.
Shortly after, at around 7:30 p.m., the team received a call for a stranded hiker on the Grouse Grind. The hiker was located and brought down safely by the team.
The third call of the night came in at around 9:30 p.m. for a group of hikers who had become lost on the Baden Powell Trail. The team was able to locate the group and guide them back to safety.
The final call of the night was received at around 11:30 p.m. for a hiker who had fallen and injured their ankle on the Lynn Loop Trail. The team was able to reach the hiker and provide medical assistance before safely bringing them down the trail.
North Shore Rescue reminds hikers to always be prepared when venturing into the backcountry, including carrying a map, compass, and other essential gear. They also advise hikers to stay on marked trails and to let someone know their planned route and expected return time.
The team also expressed their gratitude to the hikers who called for help and reminded the public that it is always better to call for assistance early rather than waiting until it is too late.
North Shore Rescue is a volunteer-based organization that responds to an average of 130 calls per year. They are dedicated to providing search and rescue services to those in need on the North Shore mountains.
