‘Downtown cannot fail’: Manitoba Metis Federation acquires more Winnipeg real estate

The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) has announced plans to establish a new headquarters in downtown Winnipeg, a move that is expected to bring economic and cultural benefits to the area.

According to MMF President David Chartrand, the new headquarters will be located at the corner of Portage Avenue and Main Street, in the heart of the city’s downtown core. The building will serve as a hub for Metis culture, housing a museum, art gallery, and cultural center.

Chartrand stated that the decision to establish the headquarters in downtown Winnipeg was a strategic one, as it will allow the MMF to be more accessible to the public and to other organizations. He also emphasized the importance of the location, as it holds historical significance for the Metis people.

The MMF has been working closely with the City of Winnipeg and the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ to ensure the success of this project. Mayor Brian Bowman expressed his support for the MMF’s decision, stating that it will contribute to the revitalization of the downtown area and bring economic benefits to the city.

The new headquarters is expected to create job opportunities and boost the local economy. It will also serve as a platform for Metis entrepreneurs and artists to showcase their talents and contribute to the cultural landscape of Winnipeg.

The MMF has a long history of advocating for the rights and interests of the Metis people in Manitoba. This new headquarters is another step towards preserving and promoting Metis culture and heritage.

Construction of the new headquarters is set to begin in the fall of 2021, with an estimated completion date of 2023. The MMF is looking forward to the positive impact this project will have on the downtown community and the Metis people as a whole.
