122 Violations Found During SPS Light Vehicle Inspection Project
A recent inspection project conducted by the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) has revealed a concerning number of violations among light vehicles in the city.
According to the SPS, a total of 122 violations were found during the project, which took place over a period of two days. The project focused on inspecting light vehicles, including cars, trucks, and SUVs, for any potential safety hazards or violations.
During the inspections, officers from the SPS Traffic Unit and the Vehicle Standards Unit checked for a variety of violations, including faulty brakes, worn tires, and improper lighting. They also looked for any modifications or alterations that did not comply with vehicle safety standards.
Out of the 122 violations found, 57 were deemed serious enough to warrant immediate action. These included 23 vehicles with faulty brakes, 12 with worn tires, and 8 with improper lighting. In addition, 14 vehicles were found to have modifications that did not meet safety standards.
The SPS has stated that these violations pose a serious risk to both the drivers and other road users. They have urged vehicle owners to ensure that their vehicles are regularly maintained and comply with all safety standards.
In light of these findings, the SPS has also reminded drivers that they have a responsibility to ensure their vehicles are safe to operate on the road. Failure to do so can result in fines and even vehicle impoundment.
The SPS has also emphasized the importance of regular vehicle inspections and maintenance, as they play a crucial role in keeping our roads safe for everyone.
This project serves as a reminder for all vehicle owners to prioritize the safety of themselves and others while on the road. The SPS will continue to conduct similar inspection projects in the future to ensure that all vehicles on the road meet safety standards.
In the meantime, the SPS is urging anyone who suspects a vehicle may be unsafe to report it to the police immediately. Together, we can work towards creating a safer driving environment for all.
