Road closures coming for LRT construction on 156 Street, Meadowlark Road

Edmonton residents can expect some road closures in the near future as construction on the LRT continues. The City of Edmonton has announced that 156 Street and Meadowlark Road will be affected by the ongoing construction.

According to the City, the closures will begin on Monday, November 22 and are expected to last for approximately two weeks. During this time, 156 Street will be closed between 87 Avenue and 90 Avenue, while Meadowlark Road will be closed between 156 Street and 157 Street.

The closures are necessary to allow for the installation of new LRT tracks and the construction of a new pedestrian overpass. The City has advised drivers to plan alternate routes and to expect delays in the area.

In addition to the road closures, there will also be some changes to transit routes. Bus stops on 156 Street and Meadowlark Road will be temporarily relocated to accommodate the construction. The City has assured residents that all bus routes will continue to operate as usual.

The LRT construction project is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to improve public transportation and reduce traffic congestion. Once completed, the new LRT line will provide faster and more efficient transportation options for Edmontonians.

The City has also reminded residents to exercise caution when travelling through construction zones and to obey all posted signs and speed limits. The safety of both workers and drivers is of utmost importance during this project.

For more information on the road closures and transit changes, residents can visit the City of Edmonton’s website or contact 311. The City has also encouraged residents to sign up for email updates to stay informed about any future construction-related disruptions.

As the LRT construction continues, the City of Edmonton appreciates the patience and understanding of residents as they work towards improving the city’s transportation infrastructure.
