A tragic collision between a bus and a car in southwest Calgary has left one person dead.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening at the intersection of 14 Street and Southland Drive SW. According to Calgary Police, the car was traveling eastbound on Southland Drive when it collided with the bus, which was heading north on 14 Street.
Emergency services were immediately called to the scene, and the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the bus was not injured, and there were no passengers on board at the time of the collision.
The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated the cause of the crash. It has since been reopened to traffic.
The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section is continuing to investigate the incident and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
