Okanagan creators bring Dungeons & Dragons to life in new graphic novel

A group of talented creators from the Okanagan region in British Columbia have joined forces to bring the popular role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons to life in a new graphic novel.

The graphic novel, titled “The Lost City of Gaxmoor,” is the brainchild of writer and game designer Ernie Gygax Jr., son of the co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons, and artist Dave Dorman, known for his work on Star Wars and Indiana Jones comics.

The story follows a group of adventurers as they explore the mysterious and dangerous city of Gaxmoor, facing challenges and battling monsters along the way.

Gygax Jr. and Dorman were joined by fellow Okanagan residents, writer Luke Gygax and artist Jeff Easley, to bring their vision to life. The team also enlisted the help of renowned fantasy artist Larry Elmore, who created the cover art for the graphic novel.

The project was funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign, which raised over $100,000 from fans and supporters of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise.

In an interview with Global News, Gygax Jr. expressed his excitement for the project, stating that “it’s been a dream of mine to work with these talented artists and bring this story to life.”

The graphic novel is not only a passion project for the creators, but also a way to introduce new fans to the world of Dungeons & Dragons. Gygax Jr. hopes that the visual medium will make the game more accessible to those who may not be familiar with it.

The team also plans to release a special edition of the graphic novel, which will include a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the book, as well as bonus content for die-hard fans.

“The Lost City of Gaxmoor” is set to be released in the fall of 2021, and the creators are already planning future projects to expand the world and characters they have created.

With the success of this project, it is clear that the Okanagan region is home to a talented and passionate group of creators, and their love for Dungeons & Dragons is sure to inspire and entertain readers for years to come.
