The community of Brockville came together at Rotary Park on Saturday to celebrate the impact of casino funds on local organizations.
The event, organized by the Rotary Club of Brockville, highlighted the positive contributions made by the Shorelines Casino Thousand Islands to the community through its revenue sharing agreement with the city.
Mayor Jason Baker, who was in attendance, expressed his gratitude for the partnership between the casino and the city.
“The casino has been a great partner for Brockville, providing much-needed funds for important projects and initiatives,” said Mayor Baker. “We are grateful for their continued support and commitment to our community.”
Since its opening in 2017, the casino has generated over $6 million in revenue for the city, which has been distributed to various organizations through the city’s Community Partnership Program.
One of the recipients of these funds is the Rotary Club of Brockville, which has received over $100,000 to support its various community projects.
“The casino funds have allowed us to make a significant impact in our community,” said Rotary Club President, Sarah Smith. “We have been able to support local youth programs, provide scholarships, and contribute to important community projects such as the revitalization of Rotary Park.”
Other organizations that have benefited from the casino funds include the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation, the Brockville and Area Food Bank, and the Brockville Public Library.
Representatives from these organizations were also present at the event, expressing their gratitude for the support they have received from the casino.
In addition to the community organizations, the casino has also contributed to the economic growth of Brockville, providing over 200 jobs and attracting tourists to the area.
The celebration at Rotary Park was a testament to the positive impact of the casino funds on the community, showcasing the power of partnerships between local businesses and organizations.
