The Kent Catholic Schools Athletic Council recently held their annual cross-country meet, bringing together students from various schools in the region to compete in a day of friendly competition and sportsmanship.
The event, which took place at the St. Clair Conservation Area, saw over 500 students from grades 4 to 8 participate in the races. The students represented 14 different schools from the Kent Catholic District School Board, showcasing their athletic abilities and determination.
The day began with the grade 4 students taking on a 1km race, followed by the grade 5 and 6 students running a 2km race. The grade 7 and 8 students then tackled a challenging 3km course, with each race seeing fierce competition and impressive performances from all participants.
The top three finishers in each race were awarded with medals, while the top five finishers in each race also received points for their school’s overall score. The school with the most points at the end of the day was declared the overall winner.
In addition to individual and team awards, the event also recognized the top three schools with the highest participation rates. This year, St. Joseph Catholic School, St. Ursula Catholic School, and St. Anne Catholic School were recognized for their outstanding participation and support.
The event was not only a showcase of athletic talent, but also a celebration of sportsmanship and camaraderie. Students cheered each other on and showed great respect and encouragement towards their fellow competitors.
The Kent Catholic Schools Athletic Council cross-country meet is an important event in the school year, promoting physical activity and healthy competition among students. It also serves as a platform for students to showcase their skills and represent their schools with pride.
