New roundabout opens Tuesday at Chute Lake and Frost roads

Kelowna residents can expect smoother and safer travels as a new roundabout opens at the intersection of Chute Lake and Frost roads on Tuesday.

The roundabout, which is part of the City of Kelowna’s ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow and safety, is set to open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 14th.

According to the City, the roundabout will provide a more efficient and safer alternative to the previous four-way stop at the intersection. It is expected to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow, especially during peak hours.

In addition to improving traffic flow, the roundabout also includes pedestrian crossings and bike lanes, making it more accessible for all modes of transportation.

The City has also implemented landscaping and lighting features to enhance the aesthetics of the roundabout and improve visibility for drivers.

Residents are reminded to approach the roundabout with caution and follow the directional signs and pavement markings. Drivers should yield to vehicles already in the roundabout and use their turn signals when exiting.

The City has also provided a helpful video on their website to educate drivers on how to navigate the roundabout safely.

The project, which began in May, was completed on time and within budget. The total cost of the roundabout was approximately $1.2 million, with funding coming from the City’s capital budget.

The City of Kelowna is committed to continuously improving the city’s transportation infrastructure to ensure the safety and convenience of its residents. With the opening of the new roundabout, residents can look forward to a smoother and safer commute.
