The London Knights showed their resilience and determination as they rallied past the Sarnia Sting in a thrilling overtime victory on Friday night.
The game started off with a strong performance from the Sting, who took an early lead with two goals in the first period. However, the Knights refused to back down and fought back in the second period, with goals from Luke Evangelista and Jonathan Gruden.
The third period saw both teams battling it out, but neither could break the tie, sending the game into overtime. The Knights came out strong in the extra period, with a goal from Connor McMichael just 1:11 in, securing the win for London.
This victory marks the Knights’ fourth straight win and improves their record to 6-2-0-0 for the season. It also extends their winning streak against the Sting to 11 games.
Head coach Dale Hunter praised his team’s resilience and ability to come back from a two-goal deficit. “We showed a lot of character and heart tonight,” he said. “It’s not easy to come back from being down, but our guys never gave up and it paid off in the end.”
McMichael, who scored the game-winning goal, also spoke highly of his team’s performance. “We knew we had to keep pushing and we did just that,” he said. “It’s a great feeling to come out on top in a game like this.”
The Knights will look to continue their winning streak as they face off against the Erie Otters on Saturday night. With their strong performance and determination, they are sure to be a force to be reckoned with in the OHL this season.
