Brantford, a city with a rich history and a promising future, is on the rise thanks to its momentum and ambition. This was the message delivered by Mayor Kevin Davis in his annual address to the community.
Speaking at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts, Mayor Davis highlighted the city’s progress and achievements over the past year, while also outlining his vision for the future.
One of the key areas of focus for the city has been economic development. Mayor Davis noted that Brantford has seen a significant increase in investment and job creation, with over $1 billion in new development projects and the creation of over 1,000 new jobs in 2019 alone.
The mayor also emphasized the importance of investing in infrastructure, citing the completion of the Wayne Gretzky Parkway extension and the ongoing construction of the Brantford-Paris Watermain as examples of the city’s commitment to improving its infrastructure.
In addition to economic growth, Mayor Davis highlighted the city’s efforts to become more environmentally sustainable. He announced that Brantford has been recognized as a “Tree City of the World” by the Arbor Day Foundation, and that the city has planted over 1,000 trees in the past year.
The mayor also addressed the issue of homelessness in the city, acknowledging that there is still work to be done but highlighting the success of the Housing First program, which has helped over 100 individuals find stable housing.
In terms of community engagement, Mayor Davis praised the efforts of local organizations and volunteers who have made a positive impact in the city. He also encouraged residents to get involved and make a difference in their community.
In closing, Mayor Davis expressed his confidence in the city’s future, stating that “Brantford is a city with momentum and ambition, and we will continue to build on our successes and work towards a brighter future for all.”
