A wildfire was discovered west of Kelowna on Thursday and has been mapped at 1.3 hectares.
According to the BC Wildfire Service, the fire was first reported on Thursday afternoon and is located near the intersection of Highway 97 and Glenrosa Road. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
As of Friday morning, the fire is classified as “out of control” and is being monitored by BC Wildfire Service crews. No structures are currently threatened by the fire.
The BC Wildfire Service has deployed air tankers and helicopters to assist in containing the fire. Ground crews are also working to establish control lines around the perimeter of the fire.
Residents in the area are advised to stay away from the fire and to follow any evacuation orders or alerts issued by local authorities.
