A class-action lawsuit has been filed against Ticketmaster in Quebec, alleging that the ticketing company has been charging excessive fees to its customers.
The lawsuit, which was filed in the Superior Court of Quebec, claims that Ticketmaster has been charging fees that are not clearly disclosed to customers at the time of purchase. These fees, according to the lawsuit, can add up to as much as 27% of the ticket price.
The lead plaintiff in the case, Montreal resident Marie-Claude Lacroix, says she was shocked to discover the additional fees when purchasing tickets for a concert. She claims that the fees were not clearly stated and were only revealed after she had already entered her credit card information.
The lawsuit also alleges that Ticketmaster’s fees are significantly higher than those charged by other ticketing companies, making it difficult for customers to compare prices and make informed decisions.
In response to the lawsuit, Ticketmaster has stated that it is committed to transparency and providing customers with all the necessary information before they make a purchase. The company also claims that its fees are in line with industry standards.
This is not the first time Ticketmaster has faced legal action over its fees. In 2018, the company settled a class-action lawsuit in the United States for $400 million, after customers accused the company of misleading advertising and overcharging fees.
The Quebec lawsuit is seeking compensation for all customers who have been charged excessive fees by Ticketmaster, as well as changes to the company’s practices to ensure transparency and fairness for customers.
The case has yet to be certified as a class-action, but if it is, it could potentially affect thousands of Ticketmaster customers in Quebec.
This is a developing story and we will continue to provide updates as they become available.
