Montreal and Longueuil police are warning parents to carefully inspect their children’s Halloween candy after several reports of needles found in treats.

According to authorities, the first incident was reported in Montreal’s West Island on Sunday, where a needle was found in a chocolate bar. The second incident occurred in Longueuil on Monday, where a needle was discovered in a candy bar.

Police are urging parents to thoroughly check their children’s candy before allowing them to consume it. They also advise parents to discard any suspicious-looking treats.

In a statement, Montreal police spokesperson Const. Caroline Chèvrefils said, “We are taking these incidents very seriously and are actively investigating to determine the source of these needles.”

So far, no injuries have been reported in connection to the tainted candy. However, police are asking anyone who may have information about these incidents to come forward.

This is not the first time that tainted Halloween candy has been reported in the Montreal area. In 2019, a similar incident occurred in the borough of Saint-Laurent, where a needle was found in a chocolate bar.

Authorities are reminding parents to educate their children about the importance of not consuming any candy that appears to have been tampered with. They also advise parents to only allow their children to consume candy from trusted sources.

As Halloween approaches, police are increasing their presence in neighborhoods to ensure the safety of children and to deter any potential incidents.

In the meantime, authorities are continuing their investigation and are asking the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
