Arson suspected following series of fires in Happy Valley-Goose Bay overnight Friday

Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL – A series of fires broke out in Happy Valley-Goose Bay overnight on Friday, leaving residents and authorities concerned about the possibility of arson.

According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), the first fire was reported at around 11:30 pm on Friday at a residence on Hamilton River Road. The fire quickly spread to a nearby shed and caused significant damage to both structures.

Shortly after, at around 12:30 am, a second fire was reported at a vacant building on Kelland Drive. The building was completely engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived on the scene.

A third fire was reported at around 1:30 am at a residence on Grenfell Street. The fire caused extensive damage to the home and resulted in the displacement of the occupants.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in any of the fires. However, the RNC has confirmed that they are treating all three incidents as suspicious and are investigating the possibility of arson.

Residents in the affected areas were advised to stay indoors and keep their doors and windows locked as a precautionary measure. The RNC also urged anyone with information or surveillance footage of the incidents to come forward and assist with the investigation.

The fires have caused significant damage to the affected properties and have left the community shaken. Many residents expressed their concerns and fears about the possibility of an arsonist in their midst.

The RNC has assured the public that they are taking the matter seriously and are working diligently to identify any suspects and bring them to justice.

In the meantime, residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the RNC immediately.

As the investigation continues, the RNC is urging the public to refrain from speculating or spreading rumors about the incidents. Instead, they are asking for the community’s cooperation and support in finding the person or persons responsible for these fires.
