The North Bay Battalion faced a tough defeat against the Sudbury Wolves on Friday night, giving up three goals in the third period and ultimately losing 4-1.
The game started off strong for the Battalion, with Luke Moncada scoring the first goal of the night just over a minute into the first period. However, the Wolves quickly responded with a goal from Blake Murray, tying the game at 1-1.
The second period remained scoreless, with both teams putting up a strong defensive effort. But in the third period, the Wolves took control of the game, scoring three goals in just over five minutes. The Battalion were unable to recover, resulting in their fourth consecutive loss.
Despite the loss, Battalion head coach Stan Butler remained positive, stating that the team played well for the majority of the game and that the Wolves simply capitalized on their opportunities in the third period.
The Wolves’ goaltender, Mitchell Weeks, was a key player in their victory, making 31 saves throughout the game. On the other side, Battalion goaltender Joe Vrbetic made 27 saves.
The loss puts the Battalion at a record of 11-19-2-0, while the Wolves improve to 16-11-1-0. The two teams will face off again on Sunday in Sudbury, giving the Battalion a chance to redeem themselves and break their losing streak.
